Doing A Home Remodel? 2 Tips To Keep Things Cleaned Up

Posted on: 1 September 2021

If you are doing a home remodel, you will quickly have a lot of debris build up. This debris can be hard to deal with if you let it pile up until you are finished. Fortunately, there are things you can do to keep everything under control, two of which are listed below.

Rent a Dumpster

The best way to keep the debris picked up is to rent a dumpster. There are many sizes available, so make sure you choose one that will fit the amount of junk you have. Consider getting one that is slightly larger than what you will need, just in case you end up with more debris than you think you will.

There are rear load dumpsters. These dumpsters can be more difficult to put debris into, but they do fit well if you only have a narrow space to put a dumpster. These dumpsters hook up to the truck and the dumpster is then lifted and the waste falls into the truck. Rear load dumpsters generally come in larger sizes.

There are also roll-off dumpsters, which are the most common type you will see for home renovation projects. These dumpsters are rectangular and have wheels to make them easy to move. You throw the debris into the top of the dumpster, much like you do with a trash can. You can find these dumpsters from small to large, so you should have no problem finding one to fit your needs.

The dumpster rental company can give you more information about different types of dumpsters. When the dumpster gets full, they will pick it up for you. If you are still remodeling, the dumpster rental company can bring back a new, empty dumpster.

Use Collapsible Trash Bins

If you are doing a small home remodel and will not have a large amount of debris, a collapsible trash bin may work well for you.  The trash bins look like trash cans but are much larger. Most of them have a lid that you can zip to help prevent debris from flying out of the bin. You can purchase a collapsible trash bin from a hardware store, online, etc., or you can find a trash collection service in your area to rent one for you.

If you rent the bin, the rental company will pick it up for you once it becomes full. If you purchase the bin yourself, you should be able to find a trash pickup service to pick it up for you.

Make sure you ask the service where they take your debris, especially if you do not want it to go to a landfill. Many services will take your debris where you want it to go, such as to a recycling company.

You will find your remodel will go much smoother if you choose one of these options.
